Bently Nevada Vibration System Verification Procedure

Bently Nevada Vibration Monitoring System is widely used in all plants. The Bently Nevada Vibration Monitoring System is used for the protection of equipment like pumps, compressors, turbines, and other rotating equipment which develop vibration during their normal operation.

Bently Nevada Vibration Monitoring System is used for continuous monitoring parameters like vibration, the position of the shaft, or the speed of the rotating equipment. Also, temperature measurement is done using Bently Nevada Vibration Monitoring System.

The Bently Nevada Vibration Monitoring System has basic vibration probes which measure the vibrations of the surface. The vibration probes come along with a full system which is a combination of 3 main components. One is the vibration probe, the other is the extension cable and the third is the Proximitor. These 3 components are connected with each other and the final connection is given to the Bently Nevada Rack 3500 for vibration, position, or speed monitoring.

Now, different types of vibration systems are available based on types of probe tip size. They are 5 mm, 8 mm, and 11 mm. Also, depending upon the system length of the vibration system, different lengths like 1 meter, 5 meters, 7 meters, and 9 meters are available. These types are selected depending on some design technical aspects.

All the 3 components we discussed come in different varieties as mentioned in the above paragraph. We simply cannot connect a vibration probe with any extension cable and any Proximitor. We need to make a compatible combination for this. Else, the system will not work. Let us have a look into the combination part.

Bently Nevada Vibration System Verification Procedure

First, let us check the vibration probe. What data to see for the selection of the vibration system?

The vibration probe has a Part Number like 330904-08-15-10-02-IN

vibration probe of Bently Nevada Vibration System

The extension cable has a part number like 330930-040-02-IN

Extension cable of Bently Nevada Vibration System

The Proximitor has a part number like 330980-51-IN

We already discussed that the whole system could be of different lengths. So, there’s a basic formula used in Bently Nevada Vibration Monitoring Systems

System length = Vibration Probe Length + Extension Cable Length

So, to know the length of each component from their part number, follow below mentioned rules.

1. For Vibration Probe

Part Number is: 330904-08-15-1002-IN

Divide the highlighted number by 10. So, we get 1 here. So, the length of the vibration probe is 1 meter.

2. For Extension Cable

The part Number is : 330930-040-02-IN

Here also, divide the highlighted number by 10. So, we get 4 here. So, the length of the extension cable is 4 meters.

Now, we apply the basic formula used in Bently Nevada Vibration Monitoring Systems

System length = Vibration Probe Length + Extension Cable Length

So, System length = 1 + 4 = 5

So, we need to have a Proximitor of length 5 meters. Let us check the Proximitor length.

3. For Proximitor

The part number is 330980-51-IN

Here highlighted number shows the system length which is 5 meters in this case.

Hence this given system is a compatible system.

One more confirmation we can have based on the connector type. As we can see that both the vibration probe and extension cable has 02 written in blue color. This shows that both have the same connector type. Hence, this is a perfect system.
